Lines: 24 The first step towards a successfully-running UFGATE system is a working uuslave program that will call up your favorite host and poll it for mail. Unfortunately, mine won't. Here's the picture: If I attach absolutely nothing to the AT's COM1: port and run uuslave, it reports attempting to make a call and failing. Fine. If I attach my modem cable (no modem at the other end, just plug in the cable) to the COM1: port and run uuslave, it reports "inbound call detected" and attempts to become the server to a nonexistent client. Finally, if I attach a modem cable and a modem, I get the same results as with no modem. I think my cable is funny; perhaps it's holding some line high or low to confuse uuslave into thinking there's something real there. Would someone please confirm these suspicions and tell me exactly which lines the cable must carry through for all this to work right? Also, which line does uuslave look at to decide if a caller's online? -- Mark (I went to Norway this summer) Knutsen | "Not of | knutsen@pilot.njin.net Student Systems Programmer | this | knutsen@rutgers.edu NJIN Pilot Project, Rutgers University | world" | {...}!rutgers!knutsen
