I teach at UBC, however and know Kieth Hamel so I am fairly int the picture about Notewriter. As far as I know, Notewriter does not extract parts but it does have some very useful and unique features. Personally I think SCORE is still the most complete scoring program available for any system but what you use will ultimately be determined by what you want to do. I have a desktop music pub. business and publish my own things as well so I need total versatility but perhaps your needs are more specific.
