Message-ID: <3879@mva.cs.liv.ac.uk> Date: 24 Nov 89 14:38:45 GMT Organization: Computer Science CSMVAX, Liverpool University Lines: 23 Hi there. The Department of Computer Science at the University of Liverpool is about to do something historic - historic for us anyway - and buy a network bridge to connect our Macintosh Network (a few plusses, an SE/30 and a IIci) to our Ethernet network (several Hp Unix machines and a MicroVax). I have heard of two methods for bridging the two networks - 1) Kinetics Fastpath running CAP/KIP. 2) Cayman Gator Box (our Hp machines are talking NFS). In the UK the first option is the most popular one - in fact I'm not sure that I've heard of anyone in the UK using a Gator Box. Does anyone know of such a setup in the UK? Does anyone anywhere have a setup similar to either of the ones that I outlined above? I've been asked to prove that the first system would work with the setup that we have. Any responses should preferably be e-mailed to me and I'll summarize here later. Thanks for your help.
