Yes, I know that the RFC822 format has the capability to reveal arbitrary strings of information which are distinguishable from the email address syntactically, but as these are treated as comments, not all mailers seem to retain and display the information. One could register a formal name and associate it with the address, the latter being used to deliver the message (just like postal or telephone numbers). Vint
