This is how I remembered it but not how I did it. It should have read: I have taken the raw_ip.c FROM THE BERKELEY NETWORKING DISTRIBUTION, APPLIED THE PATCHES FROM THE TRACEROUTE DISTRIBUTION, put it in /usr/sys/netinet ....
