Is there a product or a public domain software that efficiently
and reliably supports the transfer of files between a PC and
a host. The most common program KERMIT is very slow.
I wonder, if somebody has ever improved the KERMIT (ignoring
compatibility) to  pipe messages in progress, or 
implemented some kind of efficient FTP that works on a modem connection.
