(DEC) measures the performance of their computers. i design guidance processors for missile systems here at LTV in Dallas, and i have been instructed to measure the performance of my guidance processor in terms of VAX MIPS for government consultants. Well, i don't have the faintest idea on how to do that. What i have found out so far is that DEC runs a series of benchmarks(such as nroff, diff, yacc, dryhstone, etc), and places the results of each benchmark into some equation that yields VAX MIPS. What i need is as follows: 1. Precise information on how DEC measures performance, or knowledge of a reliable source who would know. 2. Information on where i can find the source code for popular benchmarks such as dryhstones, whetstone, diff, etc. Hopefully sources written in C or PASCAL. And please i need phone numbers, addresses, or network addresses. thank you in advance, keith Keith Sloan LTV Missiles and Electronics Group phone: 214/266-9165 P.O.
