Thanks for all the replies I got regarding my request for a chat program.

Most of the replies were for a program called "party" which I ftp'd from an
alt.sources archive.  It didn't work, probably because it's not
BSD-compatible.

One reply pointed to a gem of a program called "conf2" held in volume 16 of
comp.sources.unix.  I pulled it off uunet.uu.net and it works great!  Compiled
without a hitch and it's now installed in the BBS for all to use.
