Keywords: Using old kickstarts in amiga 500's and 2000's Message-ID: <1241@corpane.UUCP> Date: 20 Nov 89 15:52:25 GMT Organization: Corpane Industries, Inc., Louisville Ky Lines: 26 I'm getting ready to get an amiga 2000. I currently have the 1000 that I have owned since 1985. I also have several games that won't work on kickstart 1.2 or 1.3. On my 1000, it's no problem, just pop in the old kickstart disk. But what can you do with the 500 or the 2000? I sure would hate to lose the use of those programs and games. So I got to wondering..... Is there a program out there that disables the built in ROMs on the newer Amiga's and allows you to boot with a kickstart disk? If not, why not? ... I mean... we can disable the OS in order to emulate a MSDOS machine or a MacIntosh, so why not an earlier version of the Amiga OS? It would eat up extra ram, of course, but it sure would be nice, wouldn't it? I am not the only one who has wanted something like this. so I am asking you all: *IS* there such a beastie? what's it called, and where is it? -- John Sparks | {rutgers|uunet}!ukma!corpane!sparks | D.I.S.K. 24hrs 1200bps ||||||||||||||| sparks@corpane.UUCP | 502/968-5401 thru -5406 You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.
