I'm thinking of buying an A500, and of course I'll need more than 512K. I've been looking through all the Amiga mags, and there seems to be a huge discrepancy between the price of RAM depending on whether you buy the expansions populated or do it yourself. A one meg 70ns chip costs around 15 bucks, 4 256K 100ns about 25, and it seems if all you have to do is plug them into a board, it saves you an inexplicable amount of money. Is there something I'm missing, or is it really so tricky that dealers can get away with selling a couple of megs for $500? Please enlighten me! (Oh -- how does one post an original message?)
