A LISTSERV can (does) store files from many lists. All the APPLE2-L files have the name APPLE2-L to differentiate them from files belonging to a different list (and so you can get all the APPLE2-L files in rsponse to INDEX APPLE2-L. The filetype identifies individual files (dull number system but it makes automated archiving possible). Remarks indicates what the file is (the subject line from the original posting). You can either: TELL LISTSERV AT BROWNVM GET filename filetype (for example) TELL LISTSERV AT BROWNVM GET APPLE2-L 88-00531 (the VAX translation is SEND LISTSERV@BROWNVM GET APPLE2-L filetype) or send email to LISTSERV@BrownVM.Brown.edu (subject ignored) GET APPLE2-L 88-00531 GET AAPPLE2-L filetype /s Murph [Internet] or ...{psuvax1 or mcvax}!uconnvm.bitnet!sewall [UUCP] + Standard disclaimer applies ("The opinions expressed are my own" etc.)
