I have recently aquired an AT clone in which I need to install a new hard disk. I have no utility diskette in order to low-level format the hard disk. Is such a thing available in the public-domain? Or are such things too machine/bios specific to be generally available? The machine is a HERTZ 286 with an AMI bios. I have discovered how to get into the CMOS RAM setup routine, and can specify drive types, and even get a list of what types the ROM supports. I just need the actual low-level format utility. I tried using the Advanced Diagnostics diskette from my old true blue IBM AT, but it only supports types 1-15. Can anyone help? I do not have FTP access and they won't let me make long distance calls from this machine for UUCP. So I either need e-mail or a phone number of a BBS that supports XMODEM/KERMIT transfer at 1200 baud.
