We have had good experience using Excelan's  LanWorkplace SDG.  It
supports BSD style sockets (4.1 I think)  We have used it for

2 different terminal emulators running under MS-Windows
and a electronic mail front end to Unix sendmail again using MS-Windows
and DFS a PC-NFS clone implemented as a DOS TSR  (a severe test of the library)

We know of 4 bugs in the lib. We suspect at least one more. 
binary patches for the lib are avaliable for the bugs we know of.

It works, unlike several other implementations we tested and found wanting.
