I just posted a question about X not seeing
(or getting) my colormap info.  I read in
the O'Reilly Users Manual (Vol 3) that
my problem is a corrupted rgb.dir file on /usr/lib/X11 
That sounded good, so I copied a know good one from
another machine, but I still get the same
"cannot allocate colormap" error.  Does the
file need to be loaded into a database, like
you have to do with fonts 'mkfontdir'?
