I assume that you're speaking of the size of the current run-time
image.  That size is somewhat dependent on the about of data that your 
clients have asked the server to keep track of for you.  How long has
it been since you killed and restarted the server?  Although I
don't know of any, there may be memory leaks in the server.  In any
case, I know of a number of programs which can be made to cause the
server to grow pathologically.
