Lines: 35 Thanks to all who responded to my earlier question- the problem was resolved. However, I've got couple more questions... :) Occasionally, unpredictably (near as I can figure) when I startup X, all my xterm windows will appear, then one will flash out of existance. Trying to bring up another xterm via menu or 'xterm &' brings the same results. Doing several (>4) 'xterm &' right after another results in (usually) all but one flashing out of existence... Now, as far as I can remember, this only happens on the Sun SparcStations. I don't recall it happening on the Sun 3/60's, so it seems to me there is a timing problem someplace?? Where can I find a copy of "Xterm Control Sequences", mentioned in the man page of xterm? Finally, not xterm, but: What is the best (read foolproof) way to set the DISPLAY environment variable? When X starts up, it sets it to 'unix:0.0', which is invalid when you bounce to another machine and start up an xterm; you have to specify the display. ................
