Subject: toolkit errors from applications

When I try to run any application I get error messages to the following
effect:

    X Toolkit Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "White"
    X Toolkit Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "Black"

prior to this happening I had been modifying my ".twmrc", and trying to
get "xdm" set up, but I can't imagine what I could have done.  Any help
will be appreciated.

Please reply through email since I can rarely keep current on this
newsgroup.
