I am running Sun OS 3.5 on a Sun 3/160.  When
compiling bash-1.04 via gcc (or cc) I continue to have the problem
that I had thought was patched in bash-1.03, that of dropping characters.

This is especially troubling in reviewing history vi ^P or ^N.
Is there a new patch or some other solution?
