Here's the wrapup about the yorkvm1.bitnet!%s problem with telly:

#1:

The line

.telly.on.ca	...!yorkvm1.bitnet!%s

shows up in the pathalias output of the people having problems due to
configuration problems on their own machine, it is not a problem in the maps.

#2:

Smail2.5, when asked to look up 'telly.on.ca' first looks up '.telly.on.ca',
contrary to pathalias data & output semantics.  A fix for this was posted by
Dan Trottier.

#3 (I think):

When Smail2.5 does look up .telly.on.ca and comes up with the yorkvm1 path,
it misunderstands pathalias semantics again, thinking that yorkvm1.bitnet
is the same as telly.on.ca and translates the %s to the final user name, i.e.
telly.on.ca!evan turns into ...!yorkvm1.bitnet!evan.  I don't have a fix
for this, but I think several sites around do (perhaps ell-ess-you-sea?).
