[This might not be the most appropriate place for this, but it seems
to fit in with all the "which school should I go to?" requests...]


This is appeal for information.  My husband registered to take the
GRE this Saturday.  We kept waiting and waiting for the admission
ticket and all to arrive. When it never did, he called up ETS the
other day to find out what the problem was.  Well, it seems that
they never received his registration form (in this case, yes, the
check is still in the mail!).

Since it is essential that he take the test this weekend, he's going
to have to try to get in as a standby registrant.  The woman he spoke
to at ETS suggested that he go to the most "out-of-the-way" test site
in order to increase his chances of getting in, but we hypothesize that
going to the "largest" one would be better, since it seems more likely
that 1 in 500 people would not show up than 1 in 50.

Does anyone have suggestions for which type of site we should aim for?
Is there anybody out there who knows relative no-show rates for these
sorts of things?  There are 13 locations within 30-40 miles of our home
that we could try, but we'd like to make the most educated guess.  The
woman at ETS just told him "all the test sites are full".  Helpful, no?
But then again, maybe that's all she knows about it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
