As an example, redefining a background color to be bright white or yellow, since normally you can't have a textbackground of those colors. I know there has to be some memory locations containing the color palette in text mode, but I don't them. I know it can be done because Norton does it in his Norton Control Center from Norton's Advanced Utilities 4.5. I've also seen it being done in programs like PC-Shell.
