You don't say which versions you're using but I recently helped a
friend get my modified mh 6.5 up under h-pux 6.5 and we had the
identical problem. As far as I could tell, the difficulty is that lex
is broken. We copied over a dtimep.c generated on a Sun running SunOS
3.5 and things started working correctly.

P.S. Just the other day, I was examining dtimep.lex to see how
difficult it would be to convert it to flex.
