The Mail*Link program, originally from Starnine, provides a bridge between QuickMail and other mailers with an SMTP link. QuickMail provides a first-name and a last-name part of an address and joins them with an underscore, eg., Fred's QM address: Fred Bloggs goes to Fred_Bloggs. We decided when we first started to use QuickMail that we would use only its first-name field to contain names of the type . Mail*Link rewrites addresses going from Quickmail as: .@. where is the the user name, eg. Fred.Bloggs etc. Notice that it uses a '.' in the address to mark the start of its mailcentre field. Is there any way to convince Mail*Link to use a character other than '.' to separate the user and host names? For our purposes, a '%' would be more appropriate. The form: @.. would be preferrable but I suspect that this would be much harder.
