  I can recommend SIGPLAN if you do any programming.

  Many, many programming languages.  Parsing & compiling.  Object-
  oriented programming.  Random number generation.  Pretty printing.
  A wide range of topics from popular to esoteric.

  Good mix.  The parsing "guys" get pretty technical.  But every
  issue has something I find interesting and understandable.

UB>  How much reading material do you receive from the group ?

  Monthly SIGPLAN Notices plus several large supplements each year,
  like conference proceedings.

UB>  What alternative resources do you recommend ?

  Consider SIGSOFT (Software Engineering).  Try anything interesting
  for a year, then drop it if you don't like it.  I prefer the ones
  that publish a regular journal, like SIGPLAN, SIGSOFT.
