Can't say much about the strips of paper, but the tractor feeds (the metal gears, etc.) along with ladder-shaped, flexible forms made of metal, have been made into chairs! The shape of the "seat" and "back" can be adjusted by pulling (or pushing, I don't remember which) the knob on the right-hand side, and rotating it just like you used to do in order to align the paper with the carriage control ribbon.
