For the final concert we sang an a capella number. At the last rehearsal the conductor told us he would not be giving us a starting pitch. Instead we were to "pull it out of the air". Sure enough, when the time came, he gave us a moment to collect our thoughts and then brought us in. Amazingly, it worked! I have to admire his nerve, but I don't know if I would want to try it myself. Since then I've never anyone else do it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | David C.
