After two weeks of hair-pulling, the culprit was the bridge was down so
the Inboard on an AT is fine. I suspected this but the appropriate
people
had assured me it was up.

However, in the process, my 3c503 board started vigorously SMOKING (when
testing boards with the user). This is a first for me. My Compaq was
made inoperable in the process.

Thanks again for all your help. Next time I'll lnow better.
