"Joe" speculated somebody else's problem with the Ehman drive was that
it came formatted for a Mac.  I don't think that's the problem.  When I
bought my Everex 40Meg a few years ago the dealer also formatted it on a
Mac because at that time there wasn't any other way of formatting it (or
so I remember).  It's been working fine, never been reformatted.  (I'm
always telling myself that I should reformat it with the new GS/OS
utilities so I can use all 40 megs and maybe also increase the
performance, but somehow I just don't want to have to test that my
backups really do work that way!)
