Well, the Portfolio arrived, and the ROM-based tools seem to work well.
What I need now is some simple communication tool to access systems over
a standard modem.  I have tried several versions of KERMIT, and old line
mode terminal software (like PC-talk), but cannot get any of them to drive
the modem properly.  The best I have achieved to date is to activate the 
Terminal Ready LED and get the SEND DATA LED to blink when I hit keys on
the Portfolio.
   Has anyone found Comm software that will work?
