I grabbed the UNIX TeX package and used WEB2C to compile TeX. I've had
no problems with it.

You can get UNIX TeX via anonymous FTP from labrea.stanford.edu,
whenever it gets back on its feet. On the other hand, I would imagine
that someone at the UT CS department has a full installation
available.
