That way he will not have to make the transition to RPN when he is ready for the 28S(extrapolated 10 years, of course). HP makes reasonably inexpensive calculators that would be a good match for him. The best thing that ever happened to me when I was young was when my algebraic calculator broke and I had to borrow my Dad's company calculator (an HP-21).
