Lines: 42 THIS MAY BE A REPOST - IF SO, SORRY - IT DIDN'T SEEM TO GET TO THE 2ND NEWSGROUP THE 1ST TIME I POSTED In view of the quantum problems, is there any clear choice for the "best" 40 meg drive? I've read in news that quantum's problems may extend to its entire ProDrive line rather than being restricted to the drives apple bought - does anybody know? I emailed a news poster on the subject, and he told me Seagate is "all right" - given the context, this was damning by faint praise. Jasmine has been getting slammed pretty badly. Some kind of problem with Rodime has been cited - if I recall correctly, the problem was between Rodime and some company which assembled their mechanisms into an end product. Ehman's 40 meg has an attractive price in recent MacWeek/MacWorld/MacUser ads. LaCie has advertised 2 different 40 meg drives with different access (seek?) times at different prices in the same ad recently - what are the other differences between these drives? Also, apparently as a special promotion, they are offering an Epson 70 meg, but only with a 1 year warranty, whereas their other drives have a 2 year warranty. I've been told a "recent" MacWorld rated many 40 meggers, but haven't been able to find a copy of that issue - which issue was it, anyway? Comments? Thanks.
