Subject: Help:SE bell rings, won't ask for boot disk

My SE sometimes wont ask for the
startup disk (?) icon, and just sits
there and keeps "dong"ing every 6 seconds
or so. If I insert a disk, nothing happens
and it just keeps donging.

When I fiddle with the cables, it seems
work next time I turn the power on
but sometimes even if I fiddle with
the cables it still won't start up.

No sad mac icon or anything....
