Several of my programs, including Microsoft Word 3.02, ReadySetGo 4.0a, and MacDraw 1.9.6, are having problems identifying which font sizes are installed in my System file. When you choose the menu that has the font size choices (9, 10, 12 point, etc.), the installed sizes of the fonts normally appear on that menu in Chicago 12pt outline. Uninstalled sizes normally appear on the menu in plain Chicago 12. Anyway, that's the normal behavior. My problem is that NONE of the size choices for ANY font show up on those menus in Chicago 12 outline ... even though they really are installed in the System file. All appear on the menus in plain Chicago. All the fonts show up as normal, though. I have not made any changes to the fonts installed in my System file for months, either. The weird behavior persists even after restoring a System file from backup, cleaning my System Folder of all INITs except Vaccine, and zapping the PRAM. Interestingly, MacWrite 4.6, MacPaint 1.5, SuperPaint 2.0, and MacDraw II all appear to be immune from the problem. My system: Mac II, 4 megs RAM, Apple Monochrome Monitor, System Tools 6.0.3, MultiFinder on, Monitors CDEV set at B&W 2-shades, 32K RAM cache on, Vaccine 1.0.1 installed. INITs I normally run (but am not now): Flex 3.0, Responder 1.0.1, SUM Shield II 2.0, Public Folder 1.0, BroadCast 1.2, SuperClock 3.5. Any ideas? Am I the first person to have this weird problem? -John --- John O'Malley / Macintosh / Purdue University / (317) ajq@mace.cc.purdue.edu / Specialist / Computing Center / 494-1787
