I don't usualy power up the CD rom, which is the end of the scsi chain, and most often have it disconnected, since I think I have a problem. It MUST be terminated, since it has only one connector, the PLI is terminated, and the internal is terminated (I think?). Now the few times that I have powered up the whole chain, everything works fine. so the first question... is there really a problem with running 3 terminators on the chain? how does a terminator work, and what effect would having three have? also, is the terminator on a device permanantly active, or only when the device is power on? (guess that was more than one question...) question two.. does anyone know how w & where to chop the guts of the PLI drive to remove the internal termination. presume enough competence to do most electronics repair/demolition, I just haven't bothered to ever read the SCSI specs, and have no idea how the bus operates. thanx for any info.
