i have tried to use an SGI 4D240 to drive an rs232 line at 38.4Kb
(8 bits data + 1 parity) and have some evidence that it doesn't work.
(our line monitor only goes at 19.2!)

does anyone drive a such a line from a 4D240 or 4D2??
(i remember someone posting a query about this a while back
but no response was posted.)
