While it is true that sun4c (SS-1) will run sparc (sun4 application architecture) programs, the kernel specific contents of the sun4c tape are for SS-1 only. The rest of the release contents in 4.0.3c is a superset of 4.0.3. That is, it contains all of 4.0.3, plus stuff for SS-1. No. You could install the sun4c /usr/share/sys on top of the /usr/share/sys for 4.0.3 sun 4/110, and still correctly build kernels for the 4/110 though.
