X-Windows does not require TCP/IP; however, for some reason X-Windows will not start properly once TCP/IP has been installed UNLESS TCP/IP is configured and functional. There is probably some way to muck around with the rc files (i.e. /etc/rc and/or rc.tcpip) that would fix this behavior but I haven't yet found it. --- --- ---
