This discussion is a waste of bandwidth!  The UNIX "gurus" are flaming the
VMS "wizards", and vice verse, but all to no avail.  If you want to discuss
the deficiencies of UNIX (as compared to VMS ;-)), take it to comp.unix.wizards,
where you may get some useful information.

There are at least two ways of responding to someone who is obviously wrong:
    1) Tell him he is wrong -> this might get you flamed.
    2) Smile and nod your head, then go home and have a good laugh.
The first method gets you ulcers, the second relieves stress.  You decide
which one is right for you....
