I've often though of adding a chess by mail modification to gnuchess (actually
to the pre gnu version of the chess program I have).  What I had in mind was
something to which  I could specify a "return time", I'm not sure how idle mode
would work, but it would be fun to have my machine play a friend's machine, or 
have a work machine mail a move home.  Anyone looked into this?
