Last poster was pretty much on the beam, a few minor details. F. I. Regardie died (at an advanced age) a couple of years ago (1985?) in Arizona. He had been working with some oddball neo=psychology types. Their publishing company was the Falcon Press. The Golden Dawn is still quite active in California. I met some of the principals in the L.A. "chapter," and there are *two* bulletin boards (one in Berkeley and one in L.A.) (ThelemaNet and TahutiNet). OTO seems to definitely antedate the Golden Dawn. For very good historical background on Uncle Aleister, the OTO and the G.D., look for books by Francis King. T. Reuss, head of OTO, read some of Crowleys' writings, and thought he was an illumined master. Crowley did not disabuse him of this notion and went on to gracefully take over the Order. A.A. stands for Argentum Astrum, or "Silver Star." (If I remember right) It was an esoteric offshoot of the G.D., formed by Crowley for his usual reasons. Further discussion should probably go to email, as I doubt very many people are interested. But it makes a rational counterpoint to some of the other stuff in this group, and is certainly no more bizarre. -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Tim P Scott, sending from: Spectragraphics Corp. 9707 Waples St., San Diego CA 92121 [USA]+619-587-6834 Try: scott@spectra.com or ...{ucsd!}nosc!spectra!scott Brought to you by Super Global Mega Corp .com
