We do not have any firsthand knowledge of Unix or of repositories of specific or general-purpose Unix-based teaching applications. We should therefore be most grateful for any information that BIOSCI users can provide - where should we be looking? There seems to be a groundswell of opinion that Unix and the X-Windows user interface are going to play an increasingly important role in academic, including educational, computing. We would be interested in knowing of any institutional policies leading in this direction, both in the UK and elsewhere. If there is sufficient feedback and interest we will collate the information and post it back to BIONEWS.
