Summary: query about using emacs 'info' to take and link notes hypertextlike Keywords: emacs, info, hypertext, notetaking Message-ID: <515@nems.dt.navy.mil> Date: 8 Dec 89 03:04:13 GMT Reply-To: science@nems.dt.navy.mil (Mark Zimmermann) Organization: David Taylor Research Center, Carderock, MD Lines: 15 I am looking for a way to take notes as I read, and to link those notes in a simple hypertextual fashion ... my question is, can an adaptation or extension of the emacs 'info' facility do what I need? Specifically, I want to read mail, write, etc. in various windows (on a Sun) and to take notes (possibly including copy/paste excerpts from the other windows) ... main requirements are to be able to create a new 'note card' easily, to put text in it, and to then link that 'card' into a structure of other cards (perhaps with a key sequence meaning 'build a link from here to there' or vice versa) ... and then, I need to be able to navigate around following the links from 'card' to 'card' .... Is it easy/hard/impossible to do this with emacs 'info'? Please advise! (Also, if there is some other way for me to take notes and link them efficiently, pls tell me).
