I often see images passed around that are in GIF format. Is there a utility
which converts a GIF file to a Sun raster file. And while you're at it,
could you give me a brief explanation of what GIF stands for and what its
format consists of?

I'd appreciate an answer via email since I don't always read this newsgroup.
However, if this would be useful to many folks, don't let me stop you from
posting it here as well!
