I need some suggestions of how to configure my machines. The hardware consists of the following: a MacII runs appleShare 2.01 and connects 12 MacPlus, a MacSE, and several LaserWriters through appletalk. Also I have 2 Zenith 386 running TOPS on the network. Everything is connected with phone lines. Recently I got a MacIIx and several NeXT macines(NeXTs are alreay on ethernet). The MacIIx comes with a EtherTalk card. Since we have Ethernet access, I am thinking about hooking this MacIIx onto ethernet as well as link it to my local appleTalk network through phone line. I do not have a/ux and what I want is just be able to login to the NeXTs and other UNIX machines on campus from this MacIIx so that I can ftp files. Do I need more hardware and software? IS it possible to hook up the NeXTs to appleTalk as well?(Maybe use TOPS?) Thank you very much. --tsui@silver.ucs.indiana.edu tsui@silver.bacs.indiana.edu
