He is unfairly being blamed for the opinions of the readers of the comp.sys.dec.micro newsgroup in Unix-land. He should try changing his gateway software so that it does not appear that our messages are coming from GEORGE THEALL. In particular, "message of <05 Dec 89 14:19:00>, GEORGE THEALL (1:273/203)" came from me, Joe Smith, not from George. Now I will include part of the article so that uninformed people (such as Mark Bornstein) can see where the message came feom. >Rainbow EchoMail Digest Dec 9, 1989 >In this issue: > BUFFOONERY > Articles posted to either INFO-DEC-MICRO or comp.sys.dec.micro are >currently gatewayed automatically to the Rainbow Echo on Fidonet. >--- Date: 12-07-89 (14:05) >To: GEORGE THEALL >Subject: BUFFOONERY >From: MARK BORNSTEIN > >In a message of <05 Dec 89 14:19:00>, GEORGE THEALL (1:273/203) writes: > >> I'm not sure you are aware that your recent rantings >>have escaped from FidoNet and have been sent to all the United States, >> Great Britain, Japan, Israel, West Germany, etc... > >Well, that must be the reason that Geoff called me 2 days ago to >tell me he will be sending me the check. In looking over the past few weeks worth of posting to comp.sys.dec.micro (and the Rainbow Echomail), I have found that most people are polite, informed, and helpful. With one exception. That one person keeps using insulting and abusive language. I hope I speak for many when I say that I am waiting for Mark Bornstein to apologize for badmouthing Geoff Reed. Even if Geoff did do wrong, it is Mark's responsibility as a gentleman to issue a public apology for submitting us readers to this sort of abuse. I, in turn, apologize to the estimated 6000 readers in the Usenet world. If there was a reliable way to send a private message from Unix to Fidonet, this public message would not be necessary.
