I've got a 3D connected to an ATI VGA Wonder. The graphics are great! In playing with it, I've noticed a few oddities. Any comments? 1) Switching in and out of 800x600 mode seems to be a little harder for the 3D. It takes a little longer to resync. 2) Using MSC 5.1 to cycle the palette causes "snow" to appear on the screen. It appears that the ATI card allows the palette entries to be updated during display, not just during the vertical retrace time. This would also explain why changing the palette on the ATI card is much faster than on an Orchid ProDesigner. 3) When I display an image in 800x600 mode with a light background color I noticed extra lines near the top and bottom of the screen. It seems like the beam is turned off a little too late and turned back on a little too early during the vertical retrace. Currently I have no idea if this is a problem with the monitor, the card, or the phase of the moon. Stephen Coy uw-beaver!ssc-vax!coy 800x600 mode seems to be a little harder for the 3D.
