Most BIOS's or setup routines will allow you to enter a '?' at the drive type prompt for a list of supported types. Goos thing too, as the documentation often lags the hardware. I have also noticed a lot of bantying about of drive type numbers on this newsgroup and have come to the conclusion that these are HIGHLY system dependent. My computer says type 44 is correct for a seagate 251. (As a side note, my st251 is NOT a 251-1, yet four different disk drive benchmarks claim its access time is 28ms, not the 40ms it should be. I wonder if these are like uP and memories, they may run at a faster speed, but are only tested to a certain speed.)
