   George,

   I know that you're not looking for an integrated program, but Aphla
Software makes an excellent word processor for its program Electric   
Desk.  I had never used a word processor before last year, but when
my parents bought an XT-clone, we got Electric Desk with it.  The pro-
gram is very easy to use, with the function keys defined right on the
screen, help always accesible, and a readable manual, I wrote my term  
paper with it a month after we bought the computer.  If Alpha software
has just a word processor our there based on Electric Desk, I'd highly
recommend it.
