Summary: Need Help on Fixing Serial Port Unable to Upload w/o Garbage Message-ID: <4623@drutx.ATT.COM> Date: 6 Dec 89 21:55:51 GMT Organization: AT&T, Denver, CO Lines: 20 References: I have recently tried to upload files to various machines without success. Using a MacII with a Hayes 2400 modem and White Knight software, I get so many resends the transfer bombs out totally. To trouble shoot the problem, I have checked all applicable modem and terminal emulator settings as well as calling Ma Bell to clean up any line noise. In addition, I have no problem down loading (receiving) files from any of the bulletin boards I've accessed. This lead me to believe I may have a hardware problem at the modem serial port in my MacII. I checked this by hooking up to a friend's SE directly by cabling the two modem ports together (no phone line, no modem factor). I could receive files again w/o any problem, but sending files again bombed out due to the high resend error rate. Is my guess correct as to this being a hardware problem? Any suggestions on fixing it? I don't have Applecare (I'm too cheap for that) and am wondering what it would cost for a technician to fix it. J. Don Book Denver, CO att!drutx!jdon
